Real Stories from Real Cops
From Dallas: Submitted 10-26-00
I pulled over a woman for running a stop sign and after doing a subject check, I discovered she had warrants out. I called for cover and my friend Mike came to help out. I informed the woman that she had some warrants out and that we were waiting for confirmation. She asked if she does go to jail, could her boyfriend come get her car since I stopped her just in front of her apartment complex. I told her that was fine as long as he got here before the wrecker came. Her warrants were confirmed and she was placed into handcuffs and seated in my friend's squad. Her boyfriend showed up a few minutes later and I informed him what was taking place. I asked him for his driver's license, so I could make sure he had a valid DL. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to drive her car home. He gave it to me and wouldn't you know it, he was wanted too. I had his warrants confirmed and he was placed into handcuffs as well. While I was searching her boyfriend, the woman asked my friend if she could call another person to come get her car. My friend smiled at her and said, "Lady, we don't have enough room in this squad car for anymore of your friends."
8-22-01 My partner and I had just arrested a man for Public Intoxication at a nearby gas station. As we were fixing to leave for jail, another drunk came up to my window. "Officer, you're a public servant and I demand a ride home" he said. I looked at my partner and we both started to chuckle. He then yelled at us, "If I don't get a ride, there will be a H-O-M-I-C-I-D-E!". Needless to say, the gentleman certainly got a ride from us. Not to home, but to jail.
